Hardwood floors need a stable environment where the humidity stays constant, so are not suited for entrance-ways or washrooms.

Hardwood floors come in two varieties: solid and engineered. Engineered hardwood consists of a plywood core with a finished layer glued on top; while solid floors are made from a single piece of wood.
